Infantil
This week I have been practicing conversation with the children using the Gruffalo. I have been asking the students to tell me what happens in the story and they are very used to the story and enjoy it so it's a good way to ascertain their level of English. Story time has also been going very well this week as the story I am I telling is about a giant and the children get very excited about it which is always encouraging! Finally, in P5 this week I have been practicing their vocabularly about the body using Mr and Mrs Potato Head. This has worked really well as they know the characters and enjoy playing games with them.
Primary
This week in English classes we have been doing a range of different activities. We have finished our conversation topic- All About You and we have started revising the units from each class. In 2nd of Primary these past few weeks we have been revising the story of The Gruffalo. We have been using actions and song to retell the story.
In 3rd of primary we have been discussing Clothing- particulary Carnival clothing. We have been revising this topic through flashcard runs, competition games and an adjective game called "The sun shines on...".
In 4th of primary we have started the unit all about sports and activities. The children have been revising the vocabulary associated with this unit through conversational games. I have checked learning with flashcard activities and then the students have taken a more independent approach by asking each other questions such as; What do you need to wear in order to play Basketball?
In 5th of Primary we have just finished All about you and next week we will starting conversation about their new unit. In 6th of Primary this week we have finished All about you and have begun revising, "Find someone who...". The students in 6th were able to take a more independent approach in the class. They showcased their vocabulary skills and we revised the past/present participle.
In Art this week have been continuing intergrating the English language into art. The children have been looking at portraits and we have discussing the difference shapes of peoples faces and eyes for example. The children have shown great care and artistic skill throughout this English unit and I am very impressed with their maturity in this subject. They have been able to sensitively draw each others faces with care and attention to detail.
ESO/BAT
This week in ESO and BAT, I have been helping with some 1st ESO natural science classes where we have been doing activities such as matching sentences and wordsearches relating to what the students have previously learnt in class. We also celebrated Sant Josep de Calassanç on Monday where many students swapped classrooms for the day. ESO and BAT students went to the primary classes and the whole school joined together to watch music performences in the afternoon. The album cover for the ESO students taking part in the school song contest has been finalised. Masks Off will be working on writing and performing a song in a competition with their lyrics based around gender. 2nd BAT students have now finished their exams and have all done very well on their speaking assessments with me. 1st BAT students have now started their exams this week so I wish them all good luck as well!
